Born in New Delhi Kunal Kapoor started off as an actor in theatre. He has done a number of plays and has worked with Motley, Naseeruddin Shah's theatre group. Kunal always aspired to work in films. Though he was not launched as another super star, he actually started by working behind the scene as an assistant director for Rakesh Mehra's Aks. Kunal finally got a break through into Bollywood as an actor starring opposite Tabu in Meenaxi: A Tale of Three Cities (2004). The movie was directed by the one of the finest artist's Indian has produced, M. F. Hussain. The film didn't do that well on the box office as it was too artistic and had a very novel way of story telling. But Kunal did get noticed for his work.
